The kick-off meeting of the TALOS project has been held at IDONIALL, a strategic initiative within the 2025 Scientific Missions promoted by the Government of the Principality of Asturias through the Sekuens Agency. A consortium of companies and technology centers join forces to develop innovations with dual civil and military application.

What makes TALOS different is that it is not just a declaration of intent. This mission lays the groundwork for long-range objectives through tangible actions and real demonstrators in critical areas of the defense sector. What is developed today for this industry has dual-use potential, allowing these technological innovations to also be transferred to the civilian sphere, multiplying the economic impact in our region.

The project involves a top-level consortium made up of GALEO, IDONIAL Centro Tecnológico, Dogram Ingeniería de Documentación Tridimensional, Lessthan3, CIS Robotics, Preon Technologies, TWave, Castroalonso and Signal Software.

At Castroalonso we are proud to be part of this mission, which not only drives innovation in the defense industry, but also opens the door to a future of real opportunities for Asturias. The energy experienced yesterday at the meeting makes it clear that this is only the first step of something much bigger.

When talent, technology and strategy come together, the impact multiplies, both in the defense field and in all those dual applications that can transform entire sectors of our region. It is a privilege to move forward with partners of this level and contribute to a mission that reinforces our technological sovereignty and accelerates industrial modernization.

We are ready to demonstrate that Asturian innovation is key to technological sovereignty and industrial efficiency. With great commitment and enthusiasm, we face this project convinced that it will be the beginning of something even more powerful.

The event also featured the presence of other Asturian representatives from the sector, such as Asturias Hub Defensa (an association formed by more than 50 large companies and SMEs) and the companies Pixels Hub, Signal Software, and SBP.

Our COO, Cristina Fernández, is featured in the 25th-anniversary special of the Gijón Science and Technology Park, highlighting the role of women driving innovation and digital transformation in traditionally male-dominated sectors.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Gijón Science and Technology Park, La Nueva España brought together several women leading cutting-edge projects from this innovation ecosystem. Among them is our COO and founder, Cristina Fernández, who joined the PCTG in 2019 and emphasizes “the transformative environment that fosters collaboration between science, humanities, business, and technology.” Cristina shares pride with other trailblazing women at the Park for their role in a still male-dominated field, championing the strategic vision, diversity, and genuine commitment to digital transformation that women bring to the tech industry.

At Castroalonso, we have delivered cybersecurity training to the University Hospital of Cabueñes in Gijón, with the aim of enhancing staff awareness and skills in digital security and digital health, as well as promoting compliance with current regulations.

El Hospital de Cabueñes refuerza su ciberseguridad

The Gijón Transforma Digital event, held in the boardroom of La Laboral and organized by Gijón Impulsa, Fundación CTIC, and FADE, served to review the first three editions of the program, which has already supported more than 300 companies in their digitalization process.

A program that has helped identify areas for improvement, define a realistic roadmap, and implement concrete solutions in key areas such as internal management, customer relations, and digital presence for Gijón’s business community.

Cybersecurity, highlighted as an essential pillar in any digital transformation strategy, was a key and indispensable aspect to ensure secure and sustainable digitalization.

At Castroalonso, we appreciate the invitation and deeply value initiatives like this. We encourage all interested companies to join future editions. Transformation begins with a proper diagnosis!

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Carla Álvarez Sanjurjo, Director General of Employment, and María Olga Fernández González, Technician of the Service for Promotion, Development, and Innovation of the Local Employment Agency of Gijón/Xixón, to our PCTG building. Their visit aimed to see firsthand the subsidized course with a hiring commitment, including the training, planned content, and the theoretical-practical methodology we apply.

We would like to extend our gratitude for the interest and support in this type of specialized training in Gijón.

This past weekend, an article was published about AI.Rony, the project we are developing with the aim of applying artificial intelligence to the analysis of public image on the internet.

Thanks to Diario El Comercio and Laura Mayordomo for giving visibility to this project born in Asturias, which demonstrates how AI can add value to communication and reputation management.

This recognition is a great boost for the organization and encourages it to continue working for innovation and development.

This achievement is the result of a year and a half of joint effort, with Castroalonso being part of this success as a partner of the Cluster.

This accreditation opens new doors, both in national and European calls, to consolidate itself as a benchmark cluster.

The regulation, proposed jointly by the Ministries of the Interior, Defence and Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, transposes Directive 2022/2555 of the European Parliament and of the Council (NIS-2) into national law.

The draft specifies the public or private entities affected by the cybersecurity standards it establishes, and creates the National Cybersecurity Centre, which will be responsible for the management, promotion and coordination in the matter, will guarantee intersectoral and cross-border cooperation with other competent authorities and will be the crisis management authority in the event of major incidents.

Ángela Pumariega, Deputy Mayor of Gijón and Councillor for Economy, Employment, Tourism and Innovation, met with Santos González, Director of the Castroalonso Chair of Cybersecurity and Digital Environment at the University of Oviedo, Cristina Caldueño, Director of Operations at Castroalonso, and Carla Álvarez Sanjurjo, General Director of Employment Promotion of Gijón.

At this meeting, “the opportunity for the city to become a benchmark in cybersecurity” was highlighted, as well as advancing that in 2025 technological dissemination sessions will be held for high school students.
