Next Thursday, December 12, at the "Escuela Superior de la Marina Civil de Gijón", will take place the VI Edition of "Ciberseguridad al Descubierto", a key initiative to increase awareness of cybersecurity, providing essential training and promoting a cultural change in various industries.

This year, the event will focus on the maritime and naval sector, a critical area facing increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

Yesterday the VII Conference of the Society of Partners of the Polytechnic School of Engineering of Gijón was held in Las Cocinas de Laboral.

During this session, the new management model of the Society of Partners was introduced and the programme of activities for the new stage was jointly drawn up, adapted to the current profile of young people, who are so difficult to attract and retain them.

On 28 November, the twelfth edition of the Framework Programme Conference was held in Spain, whose main objective is to analyse the functioning of Horizon Europe and its major initiatives so far, organised by the CDTI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the European Commission, the European Commission, the City Council of Oviedo and Sekuens.

During the Conference, the results of our country’s participation will also be analysed to draw conclusions that will help Spanish entities to improve their participation and positioning strategies in Europe.

Yesterday the III Asturian Family Business Forum took place at the club of La Nueva España in Oviedo.

The event featured the following presentations:

The innovation and commitment of the family business. Natalia Campos, CEO of ENPLAST and Susana Martínez Prieto, general manager of the Asturian timber company GRUPO SIERO, participated in it, under the moderation of the director of AEFAS, Julia López.

Next, Esteban Sastre Torregrosa (IEF – Instituto de la Empresa Familiar) and Guillermo Pérez-Bustamante (IUDE-Business School) shared some interesting headlines about the recent survey carried out by the IEF.

In the dialogue that closed the Forum, Ignacio Rivera Quintana, executive president of Hijos de Rivera, S.A.U. and the IEF, and Iñigo Cabal Alonso, general director of GEINCO GRUPO and president of AEFAS, reflected on crucial issues such as generational transmission, roots in the land or the positive impact on society.

Javier Crespo Suárez, Data Protection and AI Consultant at Castroalonso, participates in the magazine "Actualidad Jurídica Aranzadi (AJA)" with an article dedicated to the NIS 2 Directive, which aims to eliminate differences in cybersecurity between Member States.

On October 21, 22 and 23, the 18th edition of the International Meeting on Information Security, organized by the Spanish National Institute of Cybersecurity (INCIBE), took place at the "Palacio de Exposiciones de León".

During the event, Santos González Jiménez, Professor Emeritus of Algebra at the University of Oviedo and Director of the «Castroalonso» Chair of Cybersecurity and Digital Environment, received a tribute with which INCIBE distinguishes his work at the head of the Chair.

The objective of these commissions is to promote collaboration and achieve excellence in technological projects, adapting the necessary tools to the current and real needs of the industrial and health sectors and using various technologies and tools to offer innovative and essential products and services.

The Deputy Mayor Ángela Pumariega met last Thursday with Santos González, director of the Cybersecurity Chair at the University of Oviedo and with Cristina Caldueño, from Castroalonso.

Ángela Pumariega, Deputy Mayor of Gijón and Councillor for Economy, Employment, Tourism and Innovation, met with Santos González, Director of the Castroalonso Chair of Cybersecurity and Digital Environment at the University of Oviedo, Cristina Caldueño, Director of Operations at Castroalonso, and Carla Álvarez Sanjurjo, General Director of Employment Promotion of Gijón.

At this meeting, “the opportunity for the city to become a benchmark in cybersecurity” was highlighted, as well as advancing that in 2025 technological dissemination sessions will be held for high school students.
