Last Friday, our colleague Dámaso Sánchez took part in the workshop “Opportunities and Roles in the Blue Chain”, held at the Visitors’ Building of the Port of Gijón and organized by ASATA and the Port Authority of Gijón within the framework of the European project #BluePoint.

The event brought together companies, social economy entities, and entrepreneurial ecosystem agents with a shared goal: turning marine plastic pollution into new business opportunities. Through participatory dynamics and innovative tools, attendees explored synergies and potential collaborations to advance toward a more circular and sustainable management of marine resources. Our organization values the opportunity to take part in this co-creation space and reaffirms its commitment to the blue economy and sustainability in Asturias.

On November 14, Avilés will host the celebration of World Quality Day, in a session focused on cybersecurity that will feature leading figures from the sector, including Cristina Caldueño, Chief Operating Officer at Castroalonso.

On November 14 at 9:30 a.m., Avilés will be the venue for a special event marking World Quality Day, dedicated to #Cybersecurity. Cristina Caldueño, Chief Operating Officer at Castroalonso, will take part in a roundtable discussion alongside experts such as Santos González, Director of the Castroalonso Chair of Cybersecurity and Digital Environment; Enrique Pérez de Tena, from the Joint Cyberspace Command (MCCE); and Félix A. Barrio, General Director of INCIBE. Moderated by Olalla Pena Fraga, the session will explore the challenges and opportunities of cybersecurity in both business and public sectors, highlighting the role of innovation and quality in digital protection.

Last week we took part in the International Cybersecurity Congress organized by Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio and Universidad de Oviedo, with the support of INCIBE. Three intense days with international experts in mathematics, cryptography, and education, where our colleague Alejandro Mier González contributed our ethical and humanistic perspective on defense and cybersecurity.

This congress left us with valuable learnings, reunions, and the excitement of witnessing how science, technology, and values come together to promote a more human approach to cybersecurity. At Castroalonso, we remain committed to projects that arise from sincere and humble collaboration between institutions, professionals, and students, because we believe the future is built on shared knowledge.

This Monday, the 22nd, the course on Administrative Management of R&D&I Projects Funded by CDTI and European Programs, promoted by the Gijón City Council, has begun and we will be delivering it until October 31st.

We are delighted to begin the training of technical-administrative staff specialized in the management of publicly funded R&D&I projects. This course places special emphasis on the framework of European projects, CDTI, and the European Data Spaces, providing key tools and knowledge for the successful management of these programs. We are very motivated and grateful for the opportunity to deliver this course, and we look forward to sharing our experience and supporting the participants in their professional development over the coming sessions.

On September 9th, an enriching working lunch was held with young entrepreneurs as part of the JOVEN EMPRENDA 2025 Clinic Program.

On February 12, WITH will organize a #WITHtalks session in Gijón focused on reflecting on new leadership models and the growth opportunities they represent for companies.

WITH is an ecosystem of women leaders and companies whose objective is to promote new leadership models that are inclusive, authentic, connected and adapted to the current environment, also transcending the gender issue. On January 28, European Data Protection Day, the conference "Data protection in the era of digital fragility and cyberattacks" was held.

Javier Crespo Suárez, consultant in Digital Law and Data Protection Officer of Castroalonso and Javier Fernández Teruelo, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Oviedo and President of the Conference of Deans of Law of Spain, participated in it.

The talk is part of the Uniovi–Alfonso X–INCIBE Strategic Cybersecurity Project, led by Consuelo Martínez López, professor of Algebra at the University of Oviedo, and took place at the Club La Nueva España, located at C/ Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo, 7, Oviedo.

This Monday was inaugurated the first day of the "Mathematics and Cybersecurity" workshops, taught at the IES Mata Jove and which in the coming months will reach 856 students from up to nine educational centers.

Yesterday we attended the Gijón Impulsa Awards Ceremony, an event that took place at "LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial".

These awards recognize the entrepreneurial effort and talent of the city’s business network.

Yesterday we attended the inaugural session of the INCIBE-UAX Cybersecurity and Post-Quantum Cryptography Classroom, which was led by José Luis Escrivá, Governor of the Bank of Spain, who during his time as Minister for Digital Transformation promoted the Cybersecurity Law.

Also present were Luis Hidalgo (Head of Cybersecurity Talent at INCIBE), Santos González (Director of the INCIBE-UAX Cybersecurity and Post-Quantum Cryptography Classroom) and Isabel Fernández (Rector of the Alfonso X el Sabio University).
